‘Pyewacket 2017’ Story Reveal:
Liah’s father has just died, the house is reminding her mom that every day, she needs to move to another place so that the memories can fade away. Meanwhile Liah is secretly in love with Aaron and her friends are the priority. She wants to do whatever it takes to stay with them.
By the end of the month, they move. Liah has thought at least she would get to meet her friends but her mom changes her school too. She offers Liah to do a little hobby job on the weekends like many people do. But Liah is so absorbed in her friends that she isn’t ready to make that sacrifice for her mom’s happiness.
Mom spares the year for her. She drops her at the school gate and picks her up when the school finishes. Liah starts hating her mom for controlling her life. Mom wants her to give a normal life, wants her to stay away from dark stuff so removes the pentagram from her hand. We know pentagram is the sign of the devil.
On the heat of the moment, mom says,
‘Moving on is impossible with you. God, I wish I could just wipe it off.’
After that Liah decides to kill her mom. She writes up some occult signs and collects her mom’s hair, and performs the death ritual. I don’t want to give the details. After that, a black figure starts following her.
Liah starts regretting what she did in the forest every moment the more she is seeing her mom. Mom isn’t as bad as she thought she was. Now every passing moment is haunting her.
She starts having weird incidents like someone is heavily running on the roof. Mom checks and gets none up there. The next day she wakes up in the middle of the woods. She shares her sufferings because of the rituals. Rob, who always does rituals to get girls, even rebukes her for wanting to kill her own mother.
Janice wants to sleep over this night as she is more supportive of the dark thing. Liah shows her where she did that. In the morning, mom wakes up Liah as she finds Janice nowhere. Suddenly their eyes stuck in the car. Janice is sitting there unlocked and refuses to go back to the house, it seems like she got frightened over something.
Later, Liah makes contact with Rowen Dove whose book showed him the path to perform the ritual. Maybe he can tell how to undo it. Dove says,
‘You need to think of it as a river. Evil is simply waiting across on the other side and you use yourself as a bridge to bring them over to your side. And once they fulfil the task you asked of them they will start hurting the person they communicated with’
Ending Explained:
She needs to perform the exact same ritual in reverse. At every step, she must have asked for forgiveness. When she approaches the same place, she sees her mother lying dead there. When she left without doing it, we see the lying body is opening its eyes, which means it isn’t her mom.
Liah finds mom in her house again who transforms suddenly into a demon. Liah thinks the demon is playing with her, her real mom is already dead. She suctions the petrol out of the car and burns her mom to death.
The police retrieves her and says they didn’t find any dead body in the forest, the only dead body they found was burnt to death. Liah understands the demon has succeeded in its task with the help of her.
Now, it’s her turn. The court has kept her in custody but Liah knows, very soon the Pyewacket will come for her.
