Plot Summary The Possession 2012:

Clyde Brenek, a popular basketball coach, comes to his ex-wife’s house to get some of his staff and his daughters who will help him to get him settled down. The elder one is a teenager named Hannah. She is always fast and forward and hates bugs. The little one is 10 years old named Emily who loves antiques, doesn’t support animal killing, and has made a poster on the topic.
Clyde meets Stephanie’s new boyfriend Brett who has made a new rule of putting down the shoes at the time of entering the house.

Clyde, Emily and Hannah are in their dad’s new house which is of an old infrastructure. Hannah doesn’t like the house but Emily is so excited. At night three of them sit together to have their dinner, which is pizza as a sign of celebration.
Emily tells her dad to invite their mom for breakfast but Hannah reminds her of their parents’ divorce which took place three months ago. Dad tells her not to mention it but Hannah doesn’t like the matter when Emily tries to get them back together. Clyde tells Hannah not to upset her sister. But actually it’s not her fault, this is actually his fault that he couldn’t keep their family together.
Mystery Begins; The Possession 2012:

In the morning, they see a family selling things on the way to the shop. Emily gets to see a box and wants to buy it but she sees a lady is looking at her constantly. Emily steps forward to see the inner sight of the house holding the box and notices an old lady gets scared seeing her.
They bring new things to the house. Em tells her father to open it. But he can’t open it. Instead he gets busy receiving a call from an old friend. At night Em wakes up and easily opens it. She finds a dead moth, an old dirty tooth, a ring etc. She wears the ring and feels different. Next day Hannah finds a moth in her bed and screams at her father for killing it in her bed.
Hannah’s big performance in front of the audience next week so she is practicing dance. Hannah is showing Emily some dance steps which she is gonna perform in school but she seems to be in a different place.

Then they go to their mom’s home. Clyde and Stephanie have an argument there. She says at least Brett is always with her. At least he is not like Clyde.
Clyde’s old friend Trevor gives him a job offer in a university. Next day, Emily is looking in the mirror of that mysterious box. In the meantime, Clyde comes to call her for dinner and notices she is sitting there and looking in the mirror like a hypnotised person. That reflection in the mirror is a contorted face of Emily. Clyde gets scared of the image and calls her by her name. She looks back and everything gets fine.
At dinner time, Hannah is talking about her performance and Clyde notices Emily is eating voraciously. Clyde tells her to slow down but she is inattentive and pinches her fork to his hand. Everyone else in the room gets shocked.

In Stephenie’s home, Clyde turns on the computer to see the email but an old video starts playing. Steph and Clyde reminisce about the memories. Clyde asks steph whether she noticed any unusual thing in Emily’s behaviour. She says no and adds she is going through a lot lately. She will not be normal until everything is okay.
Since Clyde couldn’t attend the performance, he apologises. Emily asks about the box. He says it’s fine. She tells him not to touch it. In school Emily fights violently with a boy for getting her bag where the box is.
Teachers call the parents, Clyde and Stephanie. They get to know Emily is behaving unusually lately and she is not even interested in her usual activities for which she is so attracted once for that box. Clyde notices the sayings.

Stephanie asks about his mails, he gets silent and it makes her irritated. At night the teacher is working in the office room and the box is there. She tries to open it. Suddenly an air flows through the room and makes her shocked. Suddenly she is thrown to the wall by an invisible force and dies.
Emily’s Struggle; The Possession 2012:

Clyde asks Emily what is the matter with the box. She says nothing is the matter, she just needs it. Clyde tells her about her teacher’s death. Her expression doesn’t change for the news. He says he saw sometimes she talked with the box. She tells about a woman who lives in that box. She asks for some more food because that woman who is now living in her body needs more food.
Clyde retrieves the box and throws it outside. At night Emily cries and asks for the box but Clyde doesn’t permit her to be with the box anymore. She starts screaming to bring the box but her father doesn’t listen. She starts to irritate him to get him framed. But he controls his anger so she slaps herself and this scene has been seen by Hannah.
Emily runs away and finds that box. That thing comes out to talk to her. She tells to get back to her father. But she has committed a crime so she can’t go back to him. Then that thing attacks her and makes her unconscious. Clyde retrieves her but Stephanie misunderstands and takes away her children by the court order.

Brett tries to pacify Stephanie and offers her a cinema date. But Emily doesn’t like him at all that means he is not pure. Only pure people can come near her. Emily is not Emily anymore. A demon has taken over her. Clyde takes this box to a professor who knows about it.
Prof. says its from a polish Jewish village where someone locked a demon into it, and it says not to open it. Clyde studies about Jewish exorcism and comes to Emily to examine whether she is affected or not. When he recite bible, Emily throws it out.
He goes to a jewish synagogue. They ask if anyone opened it. He says his daughter opened it. They suggest to leave it to god’s will but the man named Tzadok Shapir comes with him.

The Final Battle; The Possession 2012:
At night, Steph finds Emily eating voraciously. Demon fights her but when Stephanie hugs her that thing leaves Emily and Steph gets alive. Brett soothes her wound. They get her to a mental hospital and she kills Brett there.
In the meantime Clyde comes with Tzadok Shapir in his car. The doctors takes her to do an MRI. The pictures if MRI says that a demon is in her heart. Steph sees that with her own eyes. They wait for Clyde to come.

They take her to a private place to perform an exorcism but Emily escapes. Clyde tells it to take him instead. Then it enters into his body. Steph, Hannah find them and Tzadok Shapir continues the exorcism and eventually it enters into the box.
They unite again and live happily ever after. But Shapir dies of car accident and the box remain intact.
