Plot Analysis Fractured 2019:

Ray, Joanne are married but facing problems now-a-days because they don’t get to agree on several things. Ray thinks his in-laws don’t like him. Joanne says it’s not true, her mom was upset because the turkey got cold and it took so long for him to get them there.

Perry has got to go potty. Ray goes to a shop nearby where Joanne takes Perry to clean. Ray buys a coke and a coke and two bourbons. He skips the batteries because he doesn’t have enough money. Perry doesn’t find her compact so Joanne goes to the ladies room to find it and Ray searches the backseat.

Meanwhile Perry goes almost near the edge being scared of a dog. Ray hit the dog with a brick but he can’t save Perry. She fell off the ground. To save her he jumps and loses his senses. He wakes up hearing Joanne, and Perry is still alive. They take her to a hospital and the doctor declares that the pupil dilation is not at the right position so he suggests a CAT scan just to rule out anything internal.

It requires huge costs but Ray is ready to do everything for his family so he decides to do a CAT scan. The doctor notices a scrape in his head so he wants to have a look at it but he doesn’t care about the doctor’s concern. Nurse Anne and doctor Bruce bring a little doll to cheer her up because now she is up for the test. Ray is gonna book a motel for them to stay the night nearby and Joanne goes with Perry to get her to the CAT scan room.

A new phase; Fractured 2019:

Ray fell asleep. When he wakes up, it’s pretty late already. He asks at the counter how much longer it’s gonna be. She can’t tell as she doesn’t have the imaging schedule. When the list arrives, she can’t find any file under the name Peri Monroe. Dr. Berthram, under whose supervision Peri was, has left for the day.

Ray says he was permitted to pay cash and the counter girl never heard it being that way before. That means this hospital never permitted this way before so it can’t be done. The counter girl will never allow him to enter the hospital unless she can identify him with a patient. Ray gets angry and tells her to call the CAT scan room and see if there is a six year old kid and a woman still there.

It turns out that Joanne and Peri are not in the CAT scan chamber, which is quite impossible. Ray forcefully enters the hospital ignoring the security guard and gets Dr. Lucado who is nice and warm. He also doesn’t find Peri Monroe in the whole day schedule sheet. Ray notices the nurse Anne he dealt with before. Lucado asks her and gets to know it was Ray who was treated for a head injury.

Ray gets excited and asks what he has done to his family. They push Droperidol, five milligram, to get him weaker. When they leave him in a room, Ray pushes adrenaline in his body himself so that he gets more energy. He breaks out and finds Bruce who is in a doctor’s apron. It amazes him. He understands something isn’t right in this hospital.

He gets away from the hospital and finds a police car going. He gets the officers out of the car and tells them what happened. They were going home after having a get together in grandma’s house. At the gas station, Peri fell over and they ended up in this hospital.

How did he hunt for the truth with two police officer?

The officers enter the hospital with him. To answer them Dr. Lucado states what the nurse said earlier. Mr. Monroe came alone to this hospital but Ray denies wanting to see his daughter and wife. They take them to the CAT scan room which is on the 3rd floor but Ray says he saw them going downstairs. 

There is no existence of Peri Monroe in the documents that surprises everyone. Ray is stubborn and implies that it doesn’t prove they were not here. When Lucado takes a little side to pick a phone, Ray tells the police they never brought Peri here, took her somewhere else. He pleads with them to figure that out.

They find the paper where Ray signed in for Peri but the doctor says he signed it for himself. In the meantime, Dr. Berthram gets in the hospital. Ray hopes at least he would acknowledge his words but no, he states the same as others.

According to his statement Ray was erratic when he walked in and had been in a car accident. Berthram suggested a head CT which he refused. Ray insisted on going back out to the lobby to wait for his wife Abby, his first wife. The police wondered as he told his wife’s name Joanne. Ray declares Abby is his first wife’s name. Abby has nothing to do with Peri and Joanne.

Ray claims they get Abby’s name from the insurance information and they are using it against him to make him look crazy. Actually they have kidnapped his family. Jeff, the security guard offers a solution that is CCTV footage. They find no footage of him going with his family. Ray keeps claiming it’s their security system problem that they have got no footage of his family.

The police want the record of the ER but that’s not available for patients’ privacy. Ray wants to search the hospital but that’s not possible as they have no warrant. When the police start to doubt him Suddenly Ray remembers something. The cashier at the service station where Peri fell, saw them together. Meanwhile, the doctor recommends a psychiatrist to deal with him.

With a head injury, it’s not uncommon to be confused or to mix things up, Ray is confused for that reason. Police tell Ray to get his act together otherwise he will go to jail.

Ending Explained Fractured 2019:

Dr. Teresa Jacobs, the psychiatrist, comes forward to help him. Ray agrees upon talking with her in private. She has found his admission file, not Perri’s. Teresa asks about what happened before the car accident. Ray corrects her saying it wasn’t a car accident. She fell on a construction site.

In an abstract flashback we hear Abby’s scream. Abby, Ray’s first wife, had a car accident where he was too drunk to help her. But he doesn’t mention that. Teresa then asks a million dollar question that is why he told them that he was waiting for Abby. He replies Abby died eight years ago and it kills him.

After the reply Teresa immediately understands what actually happened. Something happened with Peri and Joanne that’s why he is now waiting for them. Teresa tells the police to take a look at the accident spot. Ray still thinks his wife and daughter are hidden down the hallway of this hospital.

Plot Twist; Fractured 2019:

Police take a dog to the accident spot and find a lot of blood and Peri’s missing compact. Police find the amount, way too much blood for Ray. It can be of someone who died so this is now a crime scene. Ray claims maybe the doctors planted Peri’s mirror and the blood for framing him.

Teresa asks again to Ray what happened before the accident. Ray concedes that he and Joanne had a fight about his marriage. According to Teresa, there was no dog. Ray was angry at Peri and angry at himself, so she picked up a rock and threw it at Peri. Then he lashed out at Joanne.

He lost his family once. When he saw what he had done to Peri and Joanne. His mind couldn’t accept the fact that it had happened all over again. She asks where they are but Ray remains silent.

At that moment, everyone sees a dog and Ray understands what he believes is true. He takes a gun hurriedly and tells everyone to move up and locks them in a room. He reaches out to the hospital again and enters using Teresa’s card.

When Abby died, she was pregnant. He lost both of them because of him. Ever since that happened, he can’t forgive him. He remembers Joanne saying to do something. He wears an apron and goes downstairs where they took Joanne and Peri, he thinks.

He defeats Jeff and takes the gun. He goes to a room where he sees two dead bodies, one’s body lost all of his organs and another one has lost eyes. He enters an operation theatre and finds Peri and Joanne. The doctors are gonna do the operation on Peri but Ray saves them reaching there at the right time.

Ending Explained Fractured 2019:

When Peri falls on the construction site, she dies immediately. Then Joanne comes and puts all the blame on Ray. Ray gets angry and throws her aside and she dies too. Ray can’t accept that and his mind creates an alternate reality.

After that whatever we see on the screen, is what Ray is thinking. Nothing is real. When he sees two dead bodies in the end. Those are normal patients. Peri and Joanne are not in the operation theatre. There is another patient whom Ray picks up in his car and talks with it and sings that patient ‘I can sing a rainbow’. This scene will break your heart.

‘You don’t fight for anything anymore.’

Actually every couple faces it. After some years of marriage, spouses lose interest or charm from their lives and don’t act like they did before. They don’t joke like before, don’t laugh like before, don’t caress like before and don’t even fight like before.

‘Maybe I should just say it more often, ’cause I love you..’

Couples should say to their partner ‘I love you’ more often. They should let their partners know how much they love them. Otherwise confusions, doubts will take place in their relationships. In the movie, Ray loves his wife but as he is not expressive, his wife doesn’t feel his love anymore. Then he says it to his wife.

Adrenaline is a hormone which causes you to prepare for stressful situations. It helps you to deal with ‘fight or flight’ response. Adrenaline makes your heartbeat faster. It increases your blood pressure and makes your brain more alert.

The word schizophrenia means ‘Split mind’. The word ‘Fractured’ doesn’t refer to the fracture of the brain. This is the fracture of the mind.

Greta 2018; Plot Summary:

Frances and Erica live in Manhattan in a one room apartment. Frances works as a waiter in a restaurant. One day Frances gets a bag in the subway. She waits a little in the station room but no one is there. Then she takes it in her apartment. Her roommate Erica says she doesn’t need to get it back to its owner.

Erica sees whatever is in the bag. She makes the bag upside down and gets a weird kind of pill, a lottery ticket, and some money. Erica expresses her desire to spend the money but Frances disallows it. At night, they go for a movie and Erica reminds her to call her father. But she seems a little indifferent to call him. But a drop of tear falls from her eye. Erica soothes her soul and cracks a joke to make her smile.

Next day she goes to the bag owner’s house to return it. It’s Greta’s home and she is being so humble for coming here passing all the raindrops. She invites her for a cup of coffee which is already in the pot. Frances receives her invitation. France introduces herself saying she is from Boston and she thanks her for the nice treatment.

Frances lives here with her friend Erica. Her dad bought her a loft in TriBeCa for graduation. Cristof is Greta’s husband and Nicola is her daughter. She plays piano which Cristof taught her once. Frances asks her if she has any pets. She doesn’t have any because she is not able to maintain a dog now. But still Frances gives her number if she changes her decision because her mother used to breed dogs.

Next day, Erica does yoga and Frances is cycling on the floor. Suddenly Greta calls and she thinks she should buy a dog and needs Frances’ help. Frances gives her words to accompany her on Saturday morning at 10:00 am. Erica makes fun of her and at the same time, she alerts her not to do that. This city is gonna eat her alive. 

The next day, they go to a dog centre where everyone keeps their dog. They take a dog named Morton. Frances takes a photo of them together and shows her how to send it to her daughter. Greta assumes she is pretty close to her mother. Frances informs she passed away. She is left with this dream of hers. Her dream won’t fade if she keeps that into her heart.

They go to a church where Christof used to play organ every friday. It’s okay to light a candle even if you don’t practise. Nicola calls her and talks with her. She is the youngest ever winner of the little Mozart. She used to come here. She lives in Paris. Frances feels sorry for Greta and says she doesn’t have to be lonely. Frances’ friends used to say she is like chewing gum. She loves to stick around. They promise to each other they will not leave each other.

Next day Erica talks about Simon Porter who is gonna throw a party. She has bought a pair of shoes and she is wearing those. Frances says they are great but she can’t go. She has already made plans to have dinner with Greta. Frances says sorry watching her being upset. She has to be there in 30 minutes. Erica thinks it’s getting weird. Greta is her friend but she hardly knows her. Erica is gonna call her and they are putting it on a serious taper. 

Erica says she is just a superficial bitch. It isn’t a good idea to make some random lady her surrogate mother. Erica gets angry and says now she is gonna pretend that is not what is going on here. It’s so obvious, it’s sad.

Frances gets hurt and she is gonna try and forget that she just said that to her. Frances helps Greta to cook. She is cooking risottos. Courgette and basil. A recipe her mother taught her. The candles are in the cabinet. In the little cabinet, she finds a lot of green bags and there is a name tagged in the back of every bag. At dinner time, she says she wishes to meet her mother. She asks her about her friend Erica.

In opposition, Frances is not feeling well. She is feeling sick. Greta asks if she would like to lay down. But she just wants to go home. Greta says they haven’t had dessert. She tells her to pack her plate of food but she doesn’t want to. She was purposely planting them all over the city so that someone comes to bring them back. This is the creepiest thing they have ever heard.

Greta keeps calling her when she is in the subway, or in her working place. She has called her home like 80 times. Frances starts to freak out. She calls Erica. Erica has unplugged the phone. She really wants her to go away. But it’s not that easy. The crazier they are, the harder they cling.

Greta comes to her restaurant. Frances regrets now for not listening to Erica earlier. She asks her manager to get rid of her. But he tells she can do it too. Greta was worried because she was not answering her phone. She says that she doesn’t want to talk with her because she saw the bag which she was planting so that someone would come to bring them back.

Greta leaves but gives her messages saying after Nicola left she was in the well of loneliness. It made her a little mad. That’s why she did it. But she will never do it again. She tries to make her understand they were meant for love. She threatens her saying if she doesn’t call her she doesn’t know what she will do.

Frances ignores her threat and tries to get attentive to her work but she notices her standing across the street. She flinches in such a way that the glass in her hand drops. She calls the cops but they don’t consider it harassment. They say she can just stand there and stare all day. She can even stand there with a telephoto lens and a tripod and take your picture if she wants to. Public area, her rights are protected.

They suggest ignoring her. Late at night, she carefully looks around and chooses the path of the subway but she is there. So she takes another road and still meets her. She says she is lonely too. Everybody is lonely. That doesn’t mean that you get to follow people around and terrorise them.

She replies everybody needs a friend such as you have your Erica. You said you always stick around like chewing gum. Please let’s start again. She tries to talk to you but she won’t listen. Out of rafe, she throws chewing gum to her hair. Next day, they go to file a case against her but it would take too much time to arrest her.

Next day, she goes to the dog centre and talks about her worries about the dog. She silently goes to her home and checks on the trash bin and takes her daughter’s address. She sends a message to her daughter. Late at night, she doesn’t find Erica in the room. She is out at a party. She suddenly gets photos of Erica from Greta’s number. That means she is following her. Frances makes her aware of the fact. Erica comes out of the bar, takes the subway, then takes the bus but still she is following. Frances reaches her on time and saves her.

After the night, Frances meets Alex, a friend of Nicola. She says Nicola is dead. She killed herself four years ago. She was her addiction counsellor. The whole Paris thing of Greta is her affectation. Maybe she just couldn’t survive the box. The box in which she was confined as a child or whatever. Frances’ dad gets worried about her. He scolds her because she keeps telling him everything is okay. This woman is unstable. She needs to cut her off entirely.

One day Greta comes to her restaurant as a customer. She gives her orders in french and calls her darling. Frances calls the cops. Greta says she is the child and she needs mother’s care. Frances says not to dare to talk about her mother. The police come and take her away but release her in a while.

Erica says to take the slow fade path. Frances tells Greta sorry and expresses her gratitude to her. She is going away tomorrow and will come back to meet her. Everything seems okay between them but she is wrong. Greta mixes pills to her coffee and kidnaps her and ties her into a box in which she used to lock Nicola.

She tries to make her habitual to living with her but Frances stabs her and tries to run away. She can’t escape, instead she finds Samantha dead and gets caught by her. Her father meets with Erica and understands her child is in danger. He hires a secret service man and he gets killed too.

Erica makes a plan and starts to go in the subway so that she can find that green bag. One day her plan gets successful and she gets Frances through the clue of the green bag. They tie her and lock her in the box and that’s how they get rid of the nightmare.

Frances is a sweet, sprightly kid who tends to care about people a lot. That’s why she is known among her friends as a loving and caring person who doesn’t like to be alone and doesn’t let people be alone.

‘Did I just snort Crystal Meth or did you just offer to go dog shopping with an old lady?’

Greta offers Frances to help her out choosing a dog breed and she agrees. Erica finds it a terrible decision because New York is not an easy place. Here, you can’t be innocent.

When that woman didn’t leave her alone. She consistently followed her, stared at her because she wanted her back to remove her loneliness. Frances got so bothered by this and she kept doing it. It’s people’s nature. If you show your weakness, they will keep punching on your weakness.

What is the box thing about Greta in Greta 2018?

Greta used to punish her child by trapping her into a box when she didn’t listen to her. 

Nicola could’t survive the torture. She gets into addiction. Eventually she died of drug addiction. She is kind of this way who punishes people by trapping them into her box, if they don’t listen to her.

Love cannot be gained forcefully. We know that. But when loneliness becomes your disease, it can contaminate society.

Character Analysis of Greta Hideg in Greta 2018:

Greta was too possessive of her child Nicola. She used to lock her in a box and always wanted to keep her with herself which caused Nicola to get addicted in her adolescence. In the end, she committed suicide being incapable tolerating her possessiveness.
