Plot Summary Silent House 2011:

‘Right now, our house is silent, and
the silence between us is too loud.’
-Colleen Hoover
Sarah comes with her dad to their old house to get the necessary things as they are gonna sell it. She was outside a little since she was feeling a headache.
Uncle Peter doesn’t do what John wants him to. John wishes if everyone just does what he wants them to do. A girl named Sofia comes to meet with her. But she can’t recognise her. Sofia tells about their childhood when they used to do makeovers.
She is sipping from a beer bottle then somebody knocks on the door. She checks but no one is there. She comes inside and this time hears something upstairs. Her dad John says it is probably rats. She says It sounded like someone was up there.

John understands how she is thinking. She is thinking that it is probably because of some ghostly activities. He asks if she would like to go upstairs and have a look. They get some photographs of the insurance and He accuses her uncle for leaving things lying around.
They enter a room and many of the things haven’t been organised yet. So she has to start making some progress in this room. He says he doesn’t know if she got the fact that they are packing it up to get out. She understands but what about the noise. He says It’s an old house, they make noises.
He wants her to sit down and go through those stuff and he wants to see the garbage bags full. She is gathering all the stuff into a bag, and suddenly she hears someone opening the door.

She asks her dad if it is him. He replies positively. He asks what is going on there. She is throwing stuff out. That’s what he wants to hear. She hears someone walking upstairs and suddenly a huge banging sound comes up.
She goes to a store room and calls daddy there but no one replies. She searches everywhere with her hurricane and sees something wooden, fallen on the floor. She starts to cry, thinking someone is in the house. She goes into a room and when she is out someone shuts the door so loudly that the lantern of her hand falls on the floor.
She runs downstairs and searches for the path of going out. She looks for the keys but doesn’t find them. She goes to another room and searches for the key abruptly. She finds a wooden ventilator in a wooden part of the house, tries to break them but can’t make it happen.

She hears the sound of someone running upstairs. She hides under a table and a bottle of beer rolls towards a chair. She feels someone coming forward but stops and takes the bottle to keep it on the table.
She keeps silent so that no one can hear her breathe. She waits and waits and suddenly she sees a hand near her legs. She screams her heart out and goes upstairs and locks the door. She even closes it with furniture. She searches for opening chances but can’t find them. This is the room where she left the lantern a while ago.
She keeps searching for the secret doors so that she can get out of the house. Suddenly a dead figure falls down beside her. She gets tremendously flinched that she gets thrown a bit further and when she looks at the dead body carefully she finds it is her dad.
Someone hit his forehead so badly. She cries so pathetically seeing her father’s wound. She tries to wake him up but he doesn’t respond and a little while later, he moans. She says he is gonna be alright. She takes keys from his pants.

She says she will come back then gathers her courage to go out. She moves the furniture aside and opens the door. I was thinking about how brave she is. Normal people won’t have the courage to do it.
She goes down and comes to the basement, the basement is full of pipes and garbage. She walks through the pipes and steels, and finds a tiny place where someone lived once. Maybe it is the room of that stalker. At first she tries the key into a lock but fails to open it.
She loses her patience but takes a deep breath and starts to find a new door. Instantly, she hears footsteps coming towards her. She hides herself in a room. She turns down the lights and holds her breath out of fear. She keeps crying silently.
A while later she gets a sense that he has gone. She comes forward to find a way out but hears footsteps coming. She runs away and gets a bump in a wall. Then she reaches a door, tries the key and opens the gate before he comes. She runs superlatively, so far away from her home.

Running in a circular way, she stumbles upon the grass, still gets up and runs through dandelions. Reaching at a high speed, she coughs. She sees a girl standing near her home then uncle Peter’s car appears. She looks again but she disappears. Uncle Peter gets so worried seeing her outside.
She says they got daddy. They killed him. He asks who hurt your daddy. If her dad is hurt, they need to help him right now. But Sarah doesn’t want to go back to that house. They need to go get help. But uncle Peter tells her to stay in the car before going into the house. The stranger is not gonna hurt her anymore. He ties up a bandage around her wrist.
He says it’s gonna be okay. He is gonna get her daddy with a gun. She screams crying and says he can’t leave her alone here. He says to stay in the car. But she doesn’t want to, so she cries. She keeps crying but ties her hair to pull herself together.
She looks behind out of caution and notices the stalker again. She runs in the house to uncle Peter. Peter calms her down and takes her with him. Peter wants his keys to look for who is there but she doesn’t give. He asks if she can show him where she last saw her father. She says yes.

They go upstairs and Peter gets in the wrong room where John was not. Sarah shows where she saw but there is not anybody’s dead body. It doesn’t look like anybody was here. Peter finds some garbage and moves them.
Upstairs, they search everywhere then suddenly see the lights are on. The lights were not on before. Uncle Peter searches under a paper curtain. They took Sarah’s father’s body. Suddenly all the lights go away. Sarah uses a polaroid camera to make flash lights on and she gradually sees a little girl and a painted body man.

That man kills uncle Peter and takes away the camera from her. She hides herself under a table and sees two men and a child talking about playing games. Sarah comes out and looks out at a painted man, taking him downstairs rolling his body.
Sarah steps down to the stairs taking a gun. When that man appears and she shoots two times but can’t hit the target. She goes under the bed and sees a little girl. She fugitively gets out from under the bed and enters a bathroom. A little girl was in there with a lot of beer bottles.

Suddenly blood takes over everywhere in the bathtub. She fearfully comes out of the bathroom and goes downstairs. Sofia was waiting for her there. She gets sprightly when she sees her.
Gradually she understands Sofia has tied up her father so Sarah asks what she has done to him. Sofia says you have forgotten everything. Try to remember your childhood.
Hidden meaning Silent House 2011:

When Sofia tells her she has forgotten everything, then we see someone is bringing her uncle rolling up on the floor. Now we don’t see any painted man, we see Sarah. Sarah talks so confidently now, but later she cries like a little child again.
So we understand Sarah has multiple personality disorder. One entity of her timid, doesn’t fight. Another version of her personality is dreadful, it can even defeat two adult men. Whenever Sarah lived in this house, she was a little child. Her father used to want everything to be perfect.
If she didn’t make it happen. He tortured her and took photos of them using a polaroid camera. Now her father pleads to her to make him free but she screams and throws the photos over him. But later she releases him thinking it’s her father.

Once a monster is always a monster. He takes the knife and takes off her belt. He splashes the belt over her body and she screams. Uncle Peter tells him to stop and to leave her alone. He doesn’t listen to him, on the contrary he hurts him. He tells him to shut up and enjoy the show. But Sarah smashes his head from behind and kills him. Sarah comes forward to uncle Peter and he says sorry to her.
‘Hitting a child doesn’t teach them that the stove or the road or the outlet isn’t safe. It teaches them that the person hitting them isn’t safe.’
The mysterious character Sofia…Silent House 2011:

Sofia is another personality of hers who came here to remind her about her childhood. She has multiple personality disorder. She sometimes cries watching a rat, sometimes she can kill her father. When someone pushes any person to a hard wall that she doesn’t have anywhere to go from. She can transform herself from a timid person to a dreadful killer. The little children were her child version who were trapped all past days sadly.
Hurting your children won’t bring any good results for you. Neither for you nor for your child itself.
