Plot Analysis of The Weekend Away(2022):
Beth, a sprightly woman, joins Kate in Croatia to spend a short vacation and to celebrate Kate’s post breakup expenditure. At night, after a short video chat with Aster, baby of Beth, Kate takes her to a restaurant followed by a bar.
Kate, recently has split up from her boyfriend and is interested in polyamory. Beth, who is sexually dissatisfied with her husband but satisfied and happily married with his manner, caring and dedication for the marriage. Kate is trying to persuade her to forget all these and enjoy the night by romancing random guys.
They meet two handsome guys, Kate convinces Beth saying one night of excitement can get you out of your rut. They start drinking and get out of control. Next day, Beth wakes up in her room and doesn’t find Kate. She informs Rob about Kate. Beth wises up that she can barely remember anything as she drank a bit much.
Rob asks about if they had an argument or not. Beth hangs up the phone and goes to the owner’s place. The owner says he will charge extra money for having two extra guests the previous night. Beth goes to the cop to file a missing report.
The cop thinks they must have drunk more than a little otherwise she would remember the names whom they brought into their home. She can’t file now until 24 hours have passed. Beth calls Zain for having asked him the name of the bar tomorrow. The Blue Parlour.
Zain comes with Beth to help her and finds out the two men were male escorts who were hired by her friend Katie. Their names are Mateo and Luka. She speaks with Rob, who tells her Kate is not reliable enough, whom she should get worried about.
Beth doesn’t think Kate would leave her without telling her but Rob reminds her about Kate’s previous ditches. Rob suggests to her not to be silly. Beth is gonna miss her flights to stay over some more nights.
The Journey of Investigation in The Weekend Away 2022:
Zain tells Mateo and Luka that he wants to hire them for a private party providing them a location. Zain assures her he will handle it when Beth gets worried thinking about possible consequences. Beth tells him how she met Kate, it happened when she had her semester abroad. They were opposite but they somehow clicked.
Mateo and Luka run when they see Beth because they took Kate’s bag. They don’t know about Kate. Without having her bag, they know nothing. They return the bag and plead not to tell the police. Zain asks a million dollar question.

Maybe Kate drugged her but she isn’t gonna believe it. Kate would never hurt her. In the police station, she shows the evidence to emphasise that Kate is missing. The male one is so rude that he didn’t even note down the missing report until it was 24 hours. The female cop sends her to hospital to have a checkup if there was any sexual assault.
After the checkup, Jay informs Beth that he didn’t talk to her for weeks. All of their communication would be done through lawyers. This whole disappearance act is a drama. She did this kinda act before.
The hotel owner gives Beth a spare room to stay until her friend shows up. In the morning Beth bumps into the owner while peeping through. He seems unhappy because of it. Beth calls Zain to go to dinner with him and Rob misunderstands her but that little confusion goes away soon.
Beth goes to the hospital right away and identifies Kate’s dead body. The doctor tells her to wait for the autopsy result till then we can’t say whether it is a murder or suicide. Until it is confirmed Beth wants to stay here.
Rob can’t sleep at night, keeps seeing her and feels guilty for finding Kate annoying. The night she went missing, Kate had sex with multiple partners. Beth comes again to say goodbye properly and unlocks face lock from Kate’s phone.
Beth checks on Kate’s phone making the excuse of the washroom. There is a name she gets called Handyman whom Kate said to,
‘You need to leave her!!!’
It was Rob whom she spoke to. Beth can’t believe her eyes. Rob was having an affair with Kate. The toxicology report says Kate’s blood system was toxicated with high levels of cocaine and ketamine and Beth also had it too. She was having arguments with Kate before they left. The Croatian police suspect Beth for murdering Kate.
On the other hand Beth is broken for knowing about the affair. She confronts Jay for hiding the truth from her. Jay thinks Kate was trying to get back at him.
The murder mystery took a different turn in The Weekend Away 2022:
The cop arrests Beth for the suspicion of murder. They find out about Zain who is connected to organised crime, a member of an Albanian mafia gang. They state she hires Zain to do it because her husband was having an affair with Kate.
Beth wises up, she has only found out yesterday and suggests to ask Jay because he knew it for months. Beth hires a lawyer immediately. Returning home Beth knows about the truth of Zain who actually took help from an Albanian gang leader. He doesn’t work for him and the police lets him go since he shows them the app track of the day Kate was murdered.
Ending Explained in The Weekend Away 2022:
Beth steals the key of a secret room that the owner belongs to while he is writing the WIFI password. Beth finds out this man has secret cameras in every room to make the obscene videos. Beth also finds out what happens on that day. She is noting down the car number while the owner arrives.
Beth escapes the hotel with Zain. The police find out about them and reach there. Seeing the car’s number plate, she remembers this is the car Kate came riding on. Pavic dropped her that night but he didn’t mention that till now. Beth understands Pavic kills her because he hit on her and got rejected.
She confronts Pavic and he denies it but nature can’t stand him. He slips a rock and falls down. Covac retrieves all the footage and understands Pavic is the main culprit and also finds out about Mateo and Luka who dosed them with Ketamine.
The Plot Twist in The Weekend Away 2022:
Beth returns to London and gets separated from Rob but she needs to get her spare car key. She searches Rob’s coat and finds a stone that she gave to Kate that night.
Beth goes to the bathroom and calls Covac to tell the real truth but can’t finish and keeps the phone on call. When she confronts Rob, he tells her a false story to convince her. The movie shows us what happened that day. Rob comes to Kate finding out she is gonna tell about their affair.
Kate felt guilty for ruining her best friend’s trust and tried to show Beth she deserves better. That was the intention of the weekend vacation. Covac notes down every details and arrests Rob.
