‘Only The River Flows 2023’ Story Reveal:

An old woman is found dead near a river. A little boy witnesses the crime. He confesses that he told his dad after the criminal confrontation but he didn’t believe it. Then he called some other kids to come and look. They finally believed him. The father says when he found it, the TV news just started, so it must have been around 7:00 p.m. 

The police search the river nearby but don’t find any weapon. They have about fifty households in this village. They rarely see any strangers. The granny four just raised geese, and had no issues with anyone. When captain Ma asks about Madman, the neighbour can’t say his name or where he came from.

Madman showed up here years ago. He comes and goes. Granny’s husband died a few years ago. After he died, she adopted the madman. Took him home from the street. We took care of her. She often went out for walks, in and out of the village. According to the neighbour the madman is harmless. If kids threw stones at him, he would just smile back. 

Policemen start investigating the case. The murderer must be pretty strong. The fingerprints we have taken from the scene, all seem to belong to the same person. The items in the handbag are all quite ordinary. No other clues. A cassette is looking at them frustratedly in the bag.

‘The flower’s heart hidden in its stamen…has missed its flowering season…your heart has forgotten what season it is…who can understand it…

A man brings a message that they have found the madman. Cap. Ma orders Xie not to leave until he finishes the whole tape. Madman is sitting near the river playing with his coat, floating it on the water. Watching him, Cap. Ma does the same thing so that he can grab his attention. But he is absorbed in his silliness, he doesn’t even look at him. Cap. Ma beckons other officers to bring food for the madman. They run off the spot right away.

A good thing is that the madman isn’t trying to escape so Ma leaves him there and tells others to keep an eye on him. Returning to Xie, Cap. asks him if he has listened to the whole tape. Xie suggests they should listen to it together. 

‘I snuck into your office today. Of course, I’d never disturb you. But I just want to linger(Stay in a place longer than necessary) wherever you are…haven’t seen you for three days…miss you so much.’

Officer Ting marks out the residential areas in the country on both sides of the rail line. Captain Ma is going home listening to the tape. On the way home a person crosses his path briskly, he checks out but can’t hold off anyone. Next day they check out the residential areas and find the owner of the voice. She is an accountant, name is Qian Ling. She is attending poetry class. The policemen take her from there.

Qian Ling informs she went near the river for personal reasons. She is reluctant to unwind the matter. Then a man named Wang Hong comes. Comrade officer, let me tell you. We were supposed to meet by the river that day. But I arrived late. I couldn’t find her, so I left. The next day, she said that something happened by the river. She was frightened and forgot her bag. The policeman shows him the deceased woman’s photo. He can’t recognise her.

Wang Hong has come because he knew that they would eventually find him. But his family must not find out about his relationship with Ling. He wants help to keep this secret. But Hong tells them he saw a woman with wavy hair and a factory uniform. Victim’s time of death is between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. Police find Xu Liang’s hairdressing shop near the factory.

Xu is expecting the police. Captain Ma gets a little surprised to hear that. As soon as he arrived by the river that day, he saw the corpse. At that moment, he knew he would be caught up in this case. It doesn’t matter whether a person kills or not. If the person is present at the crime spot, the police will reach to him to investigate.

He went fishing on December 15. The police ask about noticing a woman there who was with wavy hair wearing the factory’s uniform. The hairdresser had a previous conviction. Someone denounced him. He was sentenced to eight years and was released after seven years but he can’t be the suspect of this case as the police finds out an alibi(a cliam that one was elsewhere when a crime is alleged to have taken place) for him investigating.

Hong saw a wavy-haired woman. Girls are doing wavy hair often, so this clue isn’t helping them to find the wanted criminal. Ma search jis grade three medal certificate that he got in Yunnan but doesn’t find anywhere. In the next scene we see Wang Hong standing near the river waiting for Qian Ling to deliver a letter to her. The letter conveys ‘break up’ words. Suddenly he stops smoking, making an inquisitive face looking at the front.

Afterwards, we see police on the spot sitting near Hong’s dead body. Qian Ling was supposed to meet him there but she ended up not going out as her mom didn’t let her. The police made so much effort to look for Hong, it turned out he isn’t the suspect. And a few days later, he is dead. He is killed the same way as Granny Four. 

Captain Ma says this wavy haired woman is the focus of their investigation next. They are discussing meanwhile a man with blood all over the body holding a bat passes them. They chase after him and finds him easily. Everyone comes to a conclusion that he is the killer and sends him to a mental hospital. The boss asks Captain Ma why he hasn’t wrap up(close) the case yet. He replies he still has something to be sorted out.

Ma takes his pregnant wife for a regular check up. The doctor shows the baby’s movement through the ultrasonogram. Baby seems okay but the NT(Nuchal Translucency, the amount of fluid under the skin at the back of the neck of an unborn baby). That’s why doctors do an early study of a baby’s health condition. We will talk about it later. Let’s get back to the investigation. Cap. Ma knocks at the hairdresser Xu Liang’s door hoping to get answers.

He asks if he ever had any client from the factory who was tall and had long wavy hair. Xu replies negatively but keeps asking unnecessary questions to Ma. Later Ma leaves, being sick of him. The next day Xu Liang commits suicide consuming a lot of sleeping pills. Ma comes to the hospital to inspect him. Doctor has pumped out the stomach. Now they need dialysis to eliminate the drug and it requires a transfer to the county hospital.

Captain Ma signs the paper on behalf of his family. After he arranges a search in Xu’s house, they find makeup accessories, a wavy hair wig!! It concludes that he roamed around the river that day, wearing a wavy haired wig. Xu Liang is the ‘wavy haired’ woman. He used to wear that wig to pretend a woman. That day Hong saw him actually. Finally he wraps up the case. 

The picture is yet to end!

At night Ma asks his colleague if he remembers when he received a grade three merit award back in Yunnan. He replies he doesn’t remember something like that. Next day the test report of the upcoming baby shows up.

Captain Ma gets her wife to the hospital to find out the condition of the child. The study says the baby has a genetic defect. Their child’s cognitive behaviour may suffer. Cognitive Impairment(A person who struggles with mental functions like thinking, learning, remembering, and making decisions is said to have cognitive impairment.) Ma suggests getting an abortion but the baby has a heartbeat already. Tina says they can try in future but that will never be this one. This line hits me hard when I am watching the movie.

Meanwhile Xie makes horns from the road of his house as the witness child is found killed near the river. That means another murder has occurred. A witness testifies that he saw the madman walking behind the boy who is killed now. The madman hit his face with a rock. While Ma Zhe is talking with the witness, Xie stops before them saying the madman did escape from the hospital. The police make searches discreetly everywhere. In one evening, Cap. Ma gets inside the madman’s house. He finds some signs in the ceiling which indicate a madman used to hit granny. The signs remain on the ceiling.

The police chief scolds the policemen for not being capable of catching the murderer. He gives them one week otherwise they are done. In the meantime, Cap. Ma Zhe has a tough conversation with his wife about keeping the baby. His wife is angry with him as he is being so harsh towards his own child that he doesn’t want to keep a defective child.

It seems he doesn’t even care about his wife’s feelings. But she is the baby’s mother, keeping the child inside him, feeling his heartbeats, she can’t but consider his feelings. This is not an accident, it’s God’s will. Nevertheless the doctor said there was only a ten percent chance of it happening, so he shouldn’t be pessimistic.

Next day Xu Liang appears at the police station to thank Ma in person. He gives him a gift which says ‘To save a life is to renew a life’. He apologises to him for not being clear from the start. When he leaves Ma comes down to head for his home but the moment stuns him as Xu Liang falls on his car jumping from up!! After the incident, Ma starts hallucinating every killed person in the case.

He hallucinates that Madman is killing everyone mercilessly; Granny, the little boy, Wang Hong. Lastly he watches everyone laughing at him, standing in front of him. He thinks he might go crazy if he keeps thinking about this case so he decides to resign. The chief rejects his resignation as the murderer is still out there. 

The higher order is calling him everyday whether the murderer gets caught or not. Ma says his wife is pregnant so he needs to be with her. Chief congratulates him but still rejects the letter. He can’t back off from hardships like a coward. Ma Zhe sits on his office chair and keeps thinking what he should do now. He calls on Xie to hand over the case for a few days. Until he comes back, Xie will be in charge of this case. He becomes so happy to be in charge.

Returning home, Ma takes care of his wife. He spends time with her, cooks food for her, waters the plant, and above all he becomes a homely person. They decide to make a photo shoot before the arrival of the baby. When he waits until the photos are prepared, the photographer is searching for pictures from a pile of pictures. Suddenly he noticed something inside them, it is the madman’s face among a family photo. Later Ma Zhe hears Madman laughing behind him. He fights shy of him leaving the place but the madman follows him. Ma gets angrily furious and it leads him to shoot him.

Captain Ma informs his boss what he just has done to the madman. He shot him four times. Boss reacts suspiciously as no one has noticed the incident. Ma Zhe wants his boss to kill him then everything will be settled. Boss understands Ma isn’t in his senses now. He asks him to tell how many bullets a Type 64 gun holds. He answers seven. That means his gun must have three bullets now but surprisingly the gun has all the seven bullets. Ma Zhe understands he is hallucinating again.

Lastly we see Ma Zhe receiving the Grade Three Merit Award for contributing to the case of December 15. He tracked down madman with unbeatable determination. Madman is now under active treatment in a municipal mental hospital.

EXPLANATION:

Captain Ma is also suffering from Cognitive behaviour disorder. Remember he said that he received a grade three merit award back in Yunnan but couldn’t find the award. Actually that wasn’t true but he wasn’t lying. He was hallucinating about that. He forgot who got it and imagined him as a merit awarded.

His child got the same disease from him. This movie portrayed how a mentally unstable police officer becomes able to catch a mental psycho murderer who is totally unaware of his sickness. He even hates mental people but guess what, his own child is now suffering it!!

The Diary(El Diario 2024) is a Mexican psychological thriller film directed by Emma Bertran, Alba Gill starring Irene Azuela in the leading role.

‘The Diary(El Diario) 2024’ Story Reveal:

Olga has shifted to a new house after having divorce with Victor. Vera is her eight years old little child recently having counselling therapy sessions with psychologist Carlos as she stabbed a dog to death.

Olga finds a chest in the attic of the house. The previous owner must have forgotten it and when they realise, they will want it back. Victor is here to pick his daughter Vera but she is having problems getting along with her dad’s girlfriend Mariana.

After they leave she experiences a high frequency sound that cringes her for some time. She goes near the chest again, that chest holds a diary where there is noted some death descriptions and time. She puts it away from home but when she returns, finds the chest back to its position.

Victor calls, says that Vera was making lunch with Mariana, suddenly she had her hand in a deep cut. Olga asks Mariana to tell what really happened. She was about to start cooking, Vera was insisting on cutting the onion so she took it to a drawer. She opened the fridge door and when she turned Vera already cut herself.

It seems to Olga that Vera purposely did it to frame Mariana. Olga makes an excuse not to take Vera with her until she fixes the issue. At home, Olga meets Carlos to solve the ongoing issue and that is about the chest. 

Olga starts hallucinating Chemical elements, hospital beds in the attic.

The Mysterious Chest; The Diary(El Diario) 2024:

Carlos starts reading the diary. Martin Munoz Araujo, the victim of this journal. Olga searches online, finds nothing as if the victims never existed.

Olga at first doesn’t want to believe this man really killed those people but Carlos thinks this diary holds too many details to be a fantasy. He wants to show the diary to a trustworthy friend who is a graphologist. If they identify the author, they will know what to do. Calligraphy has a power to uncover subtle details.

Graphologist’s Observation in The Diary(El Diario) 2024:

Alicia, Emmanual would already be dead but Martin hasn’t been killed yet, he had begun to be tortured. But there is another victim yet, it might be someone from their distant past.

This killer is a woman who is totally obsessed with suffering. She is about 40 years old, lives a discreet life, full of restraint but perfectly adjusted to society. She appears to be normal but she isn’t. This journal is the most honest version of who she really is.

Professor can’t find out her identity but some features are unleashed. She is a woman with a motor disability like she holds a pen in a little peculiar way. These characteristics are recent. This has just been written. Carlos and Olga just fell from the sky!!!

Olga can’t accept the fact that she is living in a killer’s house. Having a shower, she senses someone’s footsteps in her house, a woman entering her bedroom. Olga tiptoes there and that woman flinches. That makes her immediately leave the room.

She explains to Carlos how she saw her but he can’t understand how that is possible. Olga decides to search for Martin Munoz. 

The story takes an incredible turn!

Martin Munoz is just a six years old child!! Olga calculates it intellectually. The diary says Martin Munoz is 32 years old while he is going through the torture. If Munoz is six years old then the killer is learning how to write!

One morning Vera is drawing something and the doorbell rings. Victor is here with a gift from Mariana and him. Do you guys know what the gift is? It is a chest looking exactly like the killer’s chest.

It is clear to Olga that Vera is the future killer. She shows her the chest to determine if she remembers anything but that doesn’t help. It absorbs Olga in great depression. How does she turn into a killer? Carlos says the Vera I’m seeing in therapy isn’t this woman. It is good that they know this, they will be able to help her recover her agony.

They meet the Professor, she says the first person she killed was an adult close to her but that was an accidental death. The incident that triggered her sadistic behaviour, was an attempt that someone made to kill her!!

At a family function, Olga notices Vera is frequently looking at Mariana, which makes her remember that Mariana’s earring was in the chest along with other belongings of Vera. So Mariana will be the first victim!

‘What do I have to do to not go back to that house?’

Olga goes to the attic and calls Vera saying she wants to help her, she needs to know what happened. Immediately the belongings disappear from the chest and the adult Vera attacks little Vera. Olga saves her by breaking in.

Olga gives her all the time to Vera, she stops taking her to school or therapist or even in Victor’s house. So one morning Victor and Carlos both approach her home. Victor, who came to know why she isn’t allowing him to see Vera, angrily leaves seeing Carlos there.

Carlos says Olga should let Vera see her dad, she is isolating Vera from the world and it is also dangerous. Vera is only safe with Olga but Mariana’s isn’t mentioned anywhere in the journal, Carlos implies. At that time, Victor takes Vera to his home, threatening Olga with two police officers.

The diary says the day that changed Vera’s life was the shaking. Olga thinks taking away Vera from her mom is the shaking. After some time the earthquake happens. Olga realises this is the shaking the diary talks about. Today Olga is gonna lose her daughter.

Carlos and Olga set off for Victor’s where Vera is sitting with scissors to kill Mariana but she can’t kill her, the scissors move down. Victor and Mariana wake up. Victor asks her what she was doing with the scissors. She tells him she wants to go with mommy to see the aquarium. Victor tells that’s not gonna happen. Vera pushes him hard and he falls to death right away.

Police arrive but Olga gets her in the car avoiding everyone’s eyes. In the middle of the road, Olga realises Vera has no repentance, no grief as she has just killed her dad. Olga commits suicide by increasing car’s speed but Vera survives the accident and in the hospital when Olga gets her consciousness, Vera asks,

‘Did you try to kill me, mommy?’

How are Olga and Carlos seeing the chest from the future?

The chest is cursed. Nature gives Olga a chance to change the future. The chest doesn’t hold the evidence of these murders that’s why it shows up not to be cursed in the future.

Story Analysis of Immaculate 2024:

Italian police are checking her belongings although she is pushing him to finish quickly. Today she is gonna take her vows. One of the police says it must be a hard decision to be a nun. But she is quite a devoted nun, she doesn’t think of it as a decision. She thinks it’s a duty.

‘I hope you find what you are looking for, Sister Cecilia.’

A reverend mother welcomes her warmly, there is another sister, Isabelle standing next to them who seems a little bit off to Cecilia. Reverend Mother tells Isabelle to show Cecilia her room. On the way to the room, Isabelle briefly introduces to the church ‘Lady of Sorrows’.

Isabelle talks about a sick old mother who is about to die, so casually, it surprises Cecilia. Isabelle says death is a part of everyday life here. Cecilia says she feels honoured to serve alongside you but Isabelle stays as firm as before.

Then Isabelle says something that surprises Cecilia. She says Cecilia still has time to leave, God will forgive her. As Cecilia doesn’t see any reason to leave, she thinks God has sufficiently prepared her to serve. 

Cecilia meets Gwen who is unbothered and carefree. She smokes a cigarette and says that she is from Milan. Father Tedeschi recruited her. Cecilia takes her vow where she has kissed Father Merola’s ruby stone, that is weird.

At dinner time, Cecilia tells Tedeschi how she put faith in God. When she was 12 years old, there was this part of Saginaw river that would always freeze over. And no matter how cold it was, she would always walk out onto the ice.

She fell into the water breaking the ice and later the paramedics stated her heart stopped for almost seven minutes. That day, she was supposed to be dead, but God saved her for a reason.

Mother’s paranormality in Immaculate 2024:

Cecilia hears something that leads her to a hall room where a sister mumbles something falling on the ground. She is gonna call Mother Superior, but Mother is already there for her to tell,

‘Sinners should suffer. Suffering indicates our love for Jesus.’

When Cecilia wonders what place she gets stuck in the end, she loses her sense. After, we see Cecilia confessing her sin to Father Merola.

‘Father, I am already a ‘messed up’ case drinking too much wine last night, I am promising not to be a disgrace anymore.’

Cee notices father is fading from her sight. She looks into the barricade, suddenly something grabs her from behind and stabs her, some masked women.

Having to experience this horrible nightmare, Cecilia gets up frightenedly. She notices Father Merola in a white gown in her room. She lights up the room, Father’s figure gets invisible.

Cecilia’s life becomes nightmare; Immaculate 2024:

Her first few days are spent nursing the disabled Sisters, hanging the clothes on the rope etc. One night, Cecilia notices a scar on a Sister’s feet. She understands this is not what she thought to be.

Cee strangely vomits and becomes a little bit sick. Father’s committee calls for her to have a conversation. They ask if she has ever lost her chastity. She replies negatively and they believe her as Mr. Gallo examined her when she arrived here.

So they conclude that she is miraculously pregnant. God chooses her to be pregnant without a man. Cecilia isn’t happy about it and gets frustrated thinking why she has been chosen.

Abnormality rises its head; Immaculate 2024:

Cecilia finds her tooth fallen in her vomit. She is totally freaked out about being pregnant this way. One day, she is taking a bath and gets vigorously attacked by Sister Isabelle. She shouts saying,

It was supposed to be me! Bitch! They have to try again with me!

Cee understands this pregnancy thing has been imposed upon her, this isn’t a miracle. She asks Tedeschi about it. He says her pregnancy triggered Isabelle’s mental illness addressing her as a mental patient.

Cee wants to see another doctor. She wants to go to a real hospital although Dr. Gallo says he delivers babies Thursday to Saturdays at Cosentino. Hospital isn’t the thing she needs the most at this moment, she needs to be safe.

Cecilia walks through the colony and notices two masked women up on a floor. Suddenly something falls in the ground, Cecilia runs to that direction and it is isabelle!

Gwen tells Cecilia to leave the place but she doesn’t know how it can happen. Gwen angrily reacts to the other Sisters saying whatever is going on isn’t normal. They should protest against this conspiracy and guess what?

The Story Gets a New Dimension; Immaculate 2024:

Cee finds something written on the wall, she demystifies the meaning. It says,

‘For Satan himself often masquerades(disguised) as an angel of light.’

This statement emerges an awareness inside her, she looks up in the air with a wondered face. Her heart says Gwen is in danger. She looks for her outside. She hears Gwen’s wail that she follows to know where she is.

She stops in front of an old gate that holds some holes. She peeks through the hole which showcases her incredible brutality in this modern era. Those masked women castigate Gwen’s tongue.

At that moment that old sister touches Cecilia’s shoulder. Cee pleads her desire for leaving the place but that woman cancels the idea as this place will never allow you to leave. Cecilia stands there with a blank face.

Next day, Cecilia screams at the top of her lungs as her water breaks prematurely. Tedeschi immediately takes her to the hospital but he can’t go too far away when Mother Superior tells him she is faking the accident, stuffing a dead chicken inside her. Actually Cee wanted to escape faking her abortion but she can’t succeed in the process.

Real Face of Tedeschi; Immaculate 2024:

Now everyone knows Cecilia doesn’t want to stay here. There is nothing to hide for Father Tedeschi. He ties her in a chair and tells her about his secret world. He keeps the nail in a special place that pinched Jesus in the hand. That nail holds the blood of Jesus, the genetic code of Jesus.

He decoded that gene to create another child of Jesus so that the newborn can be the new Ruler of the world. His previous attempts were failures but this time, in Cecilia’s case, it is a success. Cee sees the previous failure fractures of the newborn that cringe her in hatred.

When Cecilia rejects the idea it is her child, Tedeschi does a loathsome thing marked Cee’s under toe with a heated cross. Cecilia screams at the top of her lungs but no one cares.

Ending Explained; The Desperation of Immaculate 2024:

The situation is in such deplorable condition that Cecilia has nothing to lose. Her back is against the wall. She faces Father Merola to ask him about how long they were following her as she found her childhood incident’s paper cutting and other documents about her that indicates they were behind her for a long time.

Cee’s pregnancy isn’t God’s plan. Answering the statement, Merola says,

If it is not God’s plan, then why is he not stopping us?

Then God plays the real game. Cecilia shows how mercilessly God has planned to kill them. She kills Mother superior smashing her head, kills Father Merola choking him and kills Father Tedeschi burning him.

At last when she gives birth to the defected child, she smashes it too.

How did Cecilia get pregnant?

Father Tedeschi crossed genes with Jesus’s gene, collected from blood. It was not possible, it was just a maniac thought of a psychologically ill person. Then he mixed that with sperm then infused it when Dr. Gallo checked her chastity.

That’s how he tried to create Jesus’s inheritance.

Story Analysis of My Cousin Rachel 2017:

Philip is an orphan. When he was younger, Ambrose took him in. Philip loved him like a father. Everyone said the boy needed a mother but the only women that were allowed to be around were the dogs.

Now Philip is grown up, has returned from school because the city’s clever talk doesn’t interest him. He likes it here, his home. But Ambrose falls ill. The doctor sends him off for the sunshine in Florence which is a city in Italy. After a few days, Ambrose writes to him about a widow lady, Rachel who is a very radiant lady, giving him company. Philip shares the letter with his godfather and his daughter, Louise whom he is living with.

Within a few days Ambrose wises up through a letter that he is to marry Rachel. Philip sits in a corner with a heavy face as if this is something going to bring sorrow in their life. Louise says happiness matters in a married life, if there is peace, nothing else necessary. 

But Philip’s worry kind of becomes true when the third letter arrives. Ambrose is now very concerned about his health since he doesn’t believe anyone here, especially Reinaldi the snake. The present doctor is appointed by him. Conversely, Rachel is guarding him like a hawk so that he can’t write him letters. She has become a torment in his life.

Ambrose’s Death; My Cousin Rachel 2017:

Philip reaches Florence right away and gets to know Ambrose is dead. He gets furious, which causes him to hold Reinaldi’s collar. He timidly says Rachel left.

The cause of Ambrose’s death is a tumour on his head that affected the brain. Reinaldi is Rachel’s lawyer who shows around the monuments very generously but Philip doesn’t believe him at all. He knows had he been here, Ambrose would still be alive.

Ambrose has given the authority of his estate in England to Philip that he left when he came to Florence since Philip is the only person closest to him. Philip isn’t convinced that Ambrose has died normally. That Rachel killed him. He goes to a lawyer, tells him he doesn’t believe all the bullshit about his tumour in the head.

The lawyer says strictly and clearly there is no evidence in the death certificate saying what Philip believes. If Rachel wanted, she could easily sign her self made will using Ambrose’s weakness but she didn’t do it. 

Philip’s invitation to Rachel; My Cousin Rachel 2017:

Rachel is in England and she will step into Ambrose’s house. Philip is planning to give her a messed up, cringeworthy room. Louise asks him if he wants her to stay and smiles imagining how historical it would be seeing these two confronting each other.

Philip tells Seecombe to tell her to wait until the master comes. When Philip meets her, he forgets all the grudge that he holds against her. He sits in front of her calmly and laughs with her. She permits him to smoke, he ignites the cigar although initially refuses. 

Next day, they go to the church and have breakfast with personnels of the estate. Everybody seems to love her but she thinks she would have to leave soon whenever everyone would get bored of her. She will be forced to give Italian lessons to the bored wives of the gentry.

Suddenly, Philip states the widow will remarry as fast as they can otherwise they pawn their wedding rings. Rachel feels insulted and leaves. Philip goes to the lawyer to expiate, giving her a great amount of money as allowance.

Rachel is making Italian tea while Philip is keeping the ‘money offering’ note on her desk. Italian tea, ‘Tisana’ is made from different herbs which is very salubrious to drink but doesn’t seem so tasty to Philip. Rachel laughs seeing funny expressions coming out from Philip.

A furious Rachel burst out into Philip’s room asking about how he dares to offer her money when he knows it is extremely humiliating for her. Philip doesn’t understand how it is humiliating and why. It seems like she has come for begging. She said about teaching Italian lessons, that was a joke. Even if it wasn’t a joke, there is nothing shameful in making your own way in the world.

Philip screams saying he doesn’t permit that. He is the owner of the estate so only those things happen that I permit. Having heard these boastful things, Rachel leaves upset. Philip can’t believe he hurt a woman like her. At night Philip goes to Rachel to apologise.

Rachel is crying and wising up she is accepting the allowance but not wanting to stay anymore. Philip never sees a woman cry before. His mom had died before he was born. He doesn’t know why she came here, all he knows is that he wants her to stay. The feeling towards Rachel is getting complicated.

Philip is very young and guileless. He doesn’t know why her staying will cause a lot of talk. To let him know she agrees to stay for a little while. Before Philip leaves the room, Rachel kisses his lip with a slight touch. It amazes Philip.

The Romantic Era; My Cousin Rachel 2017:

The next day, Philip seems to be a little tense and takes her to see a sick relative of hers and notices her treating him with her special tea ‘Tisana’. If she keeps helping people to get better with her tea ‘Tisana’, then she might get called ‘a witch’ in the near future.

Rachel notices Philip’s melancholic face and asks condition. He hands over the last letter of Ambrose where he addresses her ‘the torment’. She understands now how much he hated her. Returning home, Rachel takes out all the clothes of Ambrose and breaks down into tears. Philip embraces her tightly to console her.

Philip wants to surprise Rachel. He cuts tree to make her a beautiful home and wants to give her the finest piece of jewellery. He finds a pearl piece which nobody wore for twenty five years and chooses it for her.

‘Is that prudent?’

It might be mislaid so he must be careful before giving it someone that says Mr. Couch. Philip keeps the necklace on the desk and waits in the living room for Rachel standing next to him. When it happens, Rachel gives a passionate kiss. Philip and Rachel arrange a Christmas party where everyone of the estate enjoys the dinner and gets gifts from Rachel.

After the party, guests are waiting upstairs. Kendall stops Philip to inform that she overdrew her bank account(Overdraw means if you take such an amount of money that exceeds your cash). She has been sending money out of the country.

Kendall wants the necklace because she can’t take that legally. At that time, Rachel comes and hands over the necklace to him. Philip gets so angry over Kendall and makes a plan.

The next day, Philip gets his desired will that Mr. Couch has made. Master Ashley takes all the jewelleries from Mr. Couch. Philip takes the will to Kendall for the approval. Kendall asks if he quite determined on this course and gets positive reply.

Kendall reminds him if she remarries then he will lose everything but Philip believes it is unlikely.

Philip’s 25th Birthday: My Cousin Rachel 2017:

At night he enters Rachel’s room and outpours the jewelleries on the bed. He embellishes her with the expensive one. Once Rachel said he lacks only one thing, now he understands what he lacks. This is high time to lose his virginity. Rachel and Philip embrace each other and lose in the darkness.

The next morning, Philip doesn’t find his carriage after his sea bath. When Rachel returns from Kendall after assuring the will, they have sex in the lavender field. This time, Rachel seems unwilling to intimacy. Rachel gets up and gives him a pearl pin.

At night, Rachel prepares a special ‘birthday brew’ for Philip that causes him dizziness. He starts to hallucinate but he controls his discomfort and proposes to Rachel in front of everyone. Rachel feels so ashamed that she leaves the room right away.

Philip asks if she is ashamed because she doesn’t love him. Rachel gets surprised knowing that Philip has taken this matter this far where she never loved him. She permitted him to get intimate with her because she wanted to thank him for everything he did for her. It was just a part of gratitude. Rachel says,

Philip is gonna force her to kiss him but she rejects him and the jewellery she is wearing, torns apart.

The Ending Explained; My Cousin Rachel 2017:

Philip meets Louise. She expresses her concerns for Philip. Philip tells she knows nothing about her. Louise asks if it is him who knows nothing about her. Philip asks her for marriage but she rejects him. Louise wises up Rachel wasted no time to meet them when she got the will and she understood the will pretty damn well when she left.

Louise’s father Kendall said to her the marriage clause will revert her property to him. That’s why she rejects him. She is greedy and doesn’t care for love. Louise falls ill after that. Rachel nurses him with her Italian recipe. She knows different kinds of Tisana for different diseases.

Taking her Tisana regularly, he falls ill severely. He notices every morning she goes somewhere. He plans to follow her. One day, he finds out a note, kept in a book that says,

‘She is going through all the money like water, grasping, greedy for everything, but clever too, cunning. It’s a disease. She can’t help herself. She will take every single penny. She will ruin me. She will ruin us. She will ruin everything.’

He follows her and finds out she is meeting Reinaldi and kissing him. He asks her about him, she replies she needs advice. Philip tells her to send him away and is about to attack her but she takes a stick to defend her. Suddenly she starts to cry and says she has been tired of being executed by others. She wants her own life.

Plot Twist; My Cousin Rachel 2017:

Philip distributes Ambrose’s clothes to the villagers and one day a man gives him a note, found in the coat pocket. That says,

‘You are the only person in the world I can trust. Drop everything. Come out to me. Only come straight away. I fear for my life. The headaches, the sickness, the fever. Suddenly I understand the bitter potions, poisoning me. All this time, she has been poisoning me.’

One morning, the important people of the estate are having Tisana sitting together. Philip avoids the drink. Rachel wants someone to come with her as she is going for a ride. But Philip rejects her saying Louise and he have some important issues to do.

Rachel leaves alone. In the meantime, Louise and he search the whole room to find evidence to prove the truth. They get a note from Mr. Couch and the lawyer which says,

‘Thank you for returning the jewels. These will stay with us until your heir, Philip Ashley, may take possession of them.’

Philip gets confused knowing that she is returning the jewels. That means she is not greedy. Then he searches again to find something that will prove she is not guilty. He finds another note where it says Reinaldi suggesting her to marry Philip and Reinaldi is gay.

Knowing it, he runs towards the cliff side to search for her as he suggests to her to take the cliff path so that she falls into an accident and his wish is fulfilled. After the tragedy, he marries Louise and becomes father. But still confused thinking if Rachel is guilty or not.

Was Rachel guilty in My Cousin Rachel 2017?

Rachel was guilty of greediness. The moment she got the will she left to confirm it and decided to remain a widow. She was sending money outside England.

She returns the jewels because doing it she can keep the important people in hand. They will support her whenever she is in trouble.

She even wanted to kill Philip but she sensed Philip was suspecting her Tisana and at the same time, she fell in love with Philip. That’s why she cannot leave him behind.

Plot Analysis on Stranger In The Woods 2024:

Olivia attempted suicide for loosing her husband in an unfortunate accident. Her friends arrange a tour in the woods where Sam’s brother Clayton lives. Everyone is excited to see Sam’s brother but he kind of freaks everyone out with his behaviour.

Brendon has recently split up from his wife and feels sympathetic towards Olivia. He makes a cocktail for her. At night they play flashlight tag when Olivia runs, being scared off but others are fine in the trees. At night, Koda acts erratic seeing something outside. In the morning, she loses Koda and searches crying insanely

Olivia saw a hole last night and now it is filled up. It comes to her mind that Koda might be in there but Koda couldn’t bury herself. Brandon and Sam take her towards home. On the way Theresa and Liam meet the others. They ask Clayton if he saw Koda. Clayton has been up since dawn but didn’t see Koda.

They go for a search and on the way Clayton collects dead animals who had been trapped in the hunting machines. They stay over the night in Clayton house. Clayton doesn’t seem normal to Olivia. Sam, Brandon and the others are also nervous around him. He is such a man who loves killing and can joke about a dead rabbit.

Olivia feels nauseous so she uses the washroom. Actually she was looking for a chance to survey the whole house and on that note, she threw her sight at a closed door. Anyway, the dinner is ready. That psycho Clayton is pissed off because no one laughed at his cruel joke. 

Clayton remembers cooking this dish several times while he was with Sam’s family. Sam replies in such a way like he is pulling him up. Clayton gets angry and shuts the dove, in its cage, scolding it. Olivia wises up to Sam not to go for dinner at Clayton’s place ever again. Sam shows a cigarette packet that he stole from Clayton again. They laugh out the gloominess. Next day we get to know a new dimension of Olivia’s life.

Olivia didn’t commit suicide rather someone attacked her that day. Someone wrote a suicide letter too that everyone conjectures it was her note. Olivia tells Theresa if she really wants to help her, she should believe her then.

Sam arranges a boat tour to find Koda. But they forget about the stressful matters for a while, and only enjoy life. Sam takes Olivia to view a beautiful landscape of the earth and promises her to bring her again and again. Suddenly they kiss and Brendon observes it. He pisses off and calls an uber at night to leave the place.

Before leaving, he decides to take a souvenir with him. He notices the eye portion of the animal and finds a camera putting it off. Clayton was near observing him doing that. He attacks him and kills him. The others get a msg from him that he is leaving with an uber. At night Olivia hears something that leads her to hit Liam on the knee unintentionally.

Sam takes care of his knee and asks Olivia if she is fine. She says depressedly it feels like she is insane. She is making everything up. Maybe she doesn’t know what’s real anymore.

Breaking into Clayton’s house in Stranger In The Woods 2024:

Olivia wakes up Liam and tells him she is gonna break into Clayton’s house as he is out now. Olivia goes to the basement room where Clayton peels off the dead animals. She finds another room which leads her to a secret room where CCTV camera footage is found and the sign of his jerking off seeing girl’s bedroom scenes.

Meanwhile Sam and Theresa reach there and Sam finds out about Clayton’s immoral acts. Clayton is about to find them but Theresa rings the car horn to get him out. At that time, Sam confronts him and he runs off. Sam calls the police and they get really nervous because it’s Clayton. He is unstable.

The cops say Clayton was into jail before but Sam didn’t know about this. If he knew, he would never have brought them here. The cop said to stay there until they get there but Liam and Theresa want to leave right away. Sam says what if Clayton attacked Olivia. Clayton knows Olivia is his best friend. He wanted to make conversation several times. Now he feels that was for Olivia.

Cole wasn’t Olivia’s fiance. He proposed to her and she said no. But Theresa never believed her and they made her feel like she is crazy. Now they are leaving first.

Sam hits her in the head and causes her to have a concussion. Sam confesses everything. He killed Cole because he thought Olivia was gonna say yes to him. He attacked her in the bathroom and left a suicide note to make it looking like a suicide so that he can pretend to save her portraying him a good friend to her.

Sam says Olivia thinks she is too good for her, that’s why rejected him but actually he is too good for her. She is a fat fucking bitch. Olivia unties her and lurks holding a knife. When Sam gets trapped into Olivia’s acting, she stabs him and runs. Clayton comes out and puts her in a room where she finds Brendon dead. Clayton takes her to the cabin although she doesn’t believe him.

But at last Clayton saves her from Sam but still he manages to get up and chases her. Olivia kicks him and he falls on the animal trap and gets killed.
