‘Depravity 2024’ Story Reveal:
Grace, a law student, meets Alex in their apartment area. Alex has just moved into Lancaster, a new apartment. Grace shows him an article that says the police have listed the fifth missing woman in a row. Cops are starting to think they have a serial killer living in the area.
Alex used to play football but has stopped it having a duret haemorrhage(small linear bleeding). It causes him killer mood swings, insomnia, and his judgement reaction time balance are all out of whack(not working).
Aria is showing the pros and cons of the building. Alex notices a scar in her throat. She ignores it but mentions a boyfriend whom she has broken up with recently. Coming down with the lift, Alex and Grace meet with Evers’, who is now with a new sexy bimbo. They oddly look at them but Grace and Alex are like, having fun being around them. He takes her to his flat.
One night they hear a scream coming from Mr. Evers’ place. They assume it might be caused by the latest girl he took into his apartment last night. Later Alex notices Evers in front of the incinerator. That meeting gives him a tremendous idea that is gonna change his life forever. I think people take into account such thoughts when the devil is around them!!
There is a laundry chute(a vertical wide pipe that uses gravity to move dirty laundry from upper floors to a central laundry room or bin at the bottom) in every flat which are connected with each other and the chute ends down the laundry hall. He thinks Evers killed the girl, dumped girls’ bodies down the laundry chute and burnt them in the incinerator. Aria says Evers must be creepy but he isn’t a serial killer.
Alex wants to know if they really have a serial killer living on their floor. He wants to put a stop to it. There is a nice crawl(move forward on the hands and knees) space right above Grace’s ceiling that goes straight from your pantry right to his. He gets to know all these from the Lancaster supervisor, Manny, to show him the blueprints of this building. He uses her pantry to go to Evers’ place which she completely disagrees with as invading someone’s house is completely illegal.
Evers goes out at the same time every night to walk the dog. Alex moves onward at right on the nose(precisely). He is claustrophobic(people who feel suffocated in the dark) so he psychs himself up right now(mentally prepared). Stepping into his place, he feels so thrilled. There is a room for technical sculptures, embodiments. Magazines along with dead girls’ photos, several arts. But most of the sculptures are about women.
Grace keeps guarding the main gate, and suddenly Evers’ appears. She gets on the elevator and is rejected, frequently calling him. Alex is about to leave at that time he notices a floorboard and finds a lot of money kept there. This makes him out of the world. Evers enters home but something bothers his dog monster. It stands in front of the laundry chute and keeps barking.
When Alex senses Evers’ footsteps in the house. He jumps through the laundry chute. He escapes from Evers but can’t avoid the dog, it barks standing in front of the chute. Evers plays a trick, he throws a ball down the pipe and finds it in the laundry room!!! It means someone unlocked the chute! Evers clearly understands someone was in his house.
Alex tells Grace he found stacks of money hiding in the floorboard and he also tells all the things he got to see in the apartment. Grace tries to set a positive logic behind everything. Pictures of missing women which could have been kept to satisfy his morbid curiosity. Still he thinks Evers occasionally robs a date and kills her. He has been doing it for a while. When Alex keeps blabbering about Evers’ place, his eyes keep shining.
Alex’s description excites Grace. She wants to go in and wants to have Aria in it. Aria doesn’t want to be involved but she loves Grace a lot so can’t deny her. Manny has informed them Evers is going away this weekend, he will have to dog-sit his dog for a couple of days. Grace informs Aria but she tries to make aware them saying any of them never thought Evers’ can come back any time or he might know Alex was inside today.
At night Grace and Alex have a sex and a deep discussion goes on after that. It’s about Aria, about why she is different. She tells Alex about her boyfriend’s death story. David was charming. It’s like she has this attraction to things that can hurt her. It wasn’t a breakup, it wasn’t recent. They got into an argument over dinner one night. He was drunk as usual. So he lost his temper and cut her throat with a steak knife.
Aria just gives tours down at the museum and jogs around the roof in the dark. Next day Alex makes the ladder ready and gets into Evers’ room through Grace’s pantry and Aria settles herself to guard them. They roam around and do a little play around. Suddenly Evers’ enters with his dog!!!
Grace drops her phone out of surprise. Evers provokes the dog behind Alex and punches Grace. He is about to kill her at that moment Aria slits his throat. They sit together and keep thinking about what has just happened. They have killed an innocent man. Alex keeps implying he wasn’t innocent. He kept illegal money to him and also killed that bimbo.
He even says Evers sets them up to catch and tries to kill Grace. But it won’t be accountable. He was defending his home from intruders and he died so they are culpable according to the law. The way Evers killed girls, they have decided to burn him just that way. But before that they clean the whole apartment so that no one can assume anything but a detective comes looking for him but leaves within minutes.
Next day, that bimbo, whose name is Tovia, stops by Evers’ home wearing heavy jewelleries. She senses something fishy seeing Grace’s fearful face. Grace gets nervous watching her alive and keeps searching for a phone to call the others’. Tovia shows up at Grace’s door, asks about Evers. Grace says it’s rare to see people always around. Sometimes they aren’t seen for days. Tovia leaves, telling she will come back.
So Tovia is alive, Evers didn’t kill her. Grace is dying with compunction as she killed innocent Evers. Alex is still trying to establish that he wasn’t innocent. He floorboarded his money that means he was into illegal business. At night Grace and Alex have sex again. After sex Grace tells a new story about Aria. Grace responded to an ad in the school paper. She was looking for a new roommate and we clicked right away.
Grace thinks Aria doesn’t care about the money. Killing Evers, it will eat her. She will wanna do the right thing but she better not do that, that Alex wants. David, the ex, beat her black and blue(dark spots caused by beating). During one of his binges, he took a knife to his own throat. Grace guesses the guilt finally caught up with him(communicate). Aria is the one that found him.
Alex suggests leaving America for a while. They are recapitulating(discussing) the matter while going through the garage corridor. At that moment Tovia and her companion Claude stop them on their way. She wants to find a way into Carl’s place that circumvents(find another way) the main entrance as they can’t enter through the front door. Carl had his main door wired. There is a trip wire in the floorboard that activates video surveillance. That means if you go through his main door that activates cameras hidden somewhere in his apartment. They want to know how they entered the night they killed Evers.
Alex reacts like he doesn’t even care what they want. He didn’t know he had to pay the price afterwards. When the last car leaves the garage, they unpredictably attack Grace and blow up her head. They keep asking about the money and art but Alex is too greedy to hand them over. When Detective Polk confronts them, they hide the actual incident to him and make it up as *carjacking(stealing an occupied car). Polk doesn’t believe them but he has no clue what is going on in Aria’s mind. Evers was connected to these art thieves.
Grace and Aria hid the money unbeknownst to Alex. Aria says if what Tovia said is true then they are on the video. Grace went through the door to get cleaning supplies. Alex alerts her he isn’t gonna turn in that money. Aria tells about a plan. She is gonna get the hard drive from Evers’ place, take the back stairs and go through the basement. She tells Alex to meet her in the alley in an hour.
Alex opens the emergency exit and finds Tovia waiting to shoot him there. They keep torturing him to open up about the art, money and how he got inside. Tovia can’t get any information out of Alex. So she assumes the art might be Evers’ place. Meanwhile Aria enters Evers’ place, collects the art and keeps finding the hard drive. She almost finds the camera but before destroying it, Alex enters through the laundry chute with the two gangsters.
Tovia doesn’t find anything in Evers’ place which makes her furious. Claude starts looking for Aria but gets attacked by her instead in the hand. Do you think it weakens him? No, he still knocks her down. Meanwhile Tovia plays with Alex fake-shooting him frequently. She offers him to have sex with her until Claude returns. She leans on him and gives him the chance to grab the gun. He shoots her gladly.
Alex appears in the room where Claude is torturing Aria to know about the art. Claude surrenders but it is too late. Alex shoots him too, grabbing the keys from him. Aria helps him to open his handcuff. Alex asks her where the art is. Aria ignores him telling,
‘The place is on fire Alex, we don’t have time to talk about this.’
Alex understands Aria is reluctant to tell him. She isn’t gonna share the art with her. She is too cunning. Then he starts insulting her saying,
‘I never liked your type in school…look down upon(rebuke, reprimand) everybody else like you’re smarter than them…deep down you’re still a geek(a person who is knowledgeable about a particular subject)…a geek who is smart enough to know art and how to hide it from fucking psycho art thieves…’
Aria at last tells him where she hid it. They all are in the laundry chute hanging in the air. Alex starts pulling up but Aria pushes him into the chute. She replies with a smiling face,
‘I gotta give you kudos for your keen observation of me…especially the part about me being smart enough to hide the art…I tried to get you to stay out of Evers’ apartment, Alex, I tried, but you just had to be the hero…now look where it has gotten you…’
Then Aria tears the rope with the fire gun. Alex falls deep down the chute. The chute ends in the laundry area but no one is there to open it. Within seconds the fire spreads. The firefighters spray water everywhere. The chute starts filling with water. Alex keeps shouting not to pour water but it doesn’t help. Eventually Alex dies with four million dollars in cash. Aria flees from the USA and makes her own art Museum.
